Glee Ending After 6 Seasons?

"Glee" is officially ending after Season 6, and series co-creator Ryan Murphy told reporters he knows how he'll end the singing dramedy next season.

The original plan, according to Murphy, was to end with Cory Monteith and Lea Michele's characters. But in the wake of Monteith's tragic death in July, Murphy had to re-think his planned ending.

"The whole [last] year of the show -- which will be next year -- was really designed around Rachel-Cory/Finn story," Murphy said, according to EW. "I always knew that. I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was -- he was in it. I knew what the last line was; she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do."

Murphy said he thinks the new ending is "very satisfactory" and still honors Monteith.

Fox has yet to officially confirm "Glee" will end after Season 6. In August, Fox's president of entertainment, Kevin Reilly, told reporters that "Glee" was likely coming to an end after Season 6.

“I would not anticipate it goes on,” Reilly said, according to Give Me My Remote, when asked about the future of "Glee" after Season 6. "Never say never, but there’s two very clear arcs to get to there and conclude. If we discover a new crop of kids and there’s some breakout, who knows. But right now, it’s being treated as two seasons [and then done]."

"Glee" star Chris Colfer told HuffPost Live in August that he's fine with the show ending after Season 6.

"Where would you go after a sixth season? I think six is a really good number and it's a good amount of time to spend with these characters," Colfer said.

It Seems Marvel's Getting Another Show Prepped To Join S.H.I.E.L.D. On TV

As the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiere looms, Marvel looks poised to expand its TV universe even further.

Deadline's Nellie Andreeva has word that Marvel has taken inspiration from the "Agent Carter" one-shot short film on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray and started working on a TV series "inspired by" the short. Agent Carter, in case you don't remember, is Peggy Carter, the British agent who started a World War II romance with Captain America in Captain America: The First Avenger, only to lose him to an icy plane crash. The "Agent Carter" short features actress Hayley Atwell reprising the role and kicking ass as a spy, and it seems Marvel wants to see more.

According to Andreeva, the show is in the "very early stages" and looking for a writer. It's also reportedly "one of several" new series the company is working on. There's no word yet on who might be on board for this project, or even if Atwell would be willing to take up the Peggy Carter role for a long-term commitment like a television series. It's also worth nothing that Marvel hasn't even confirmed that this development is true yet, but if it is, it could be a very promising project, particularly if Peggy's niece Sharon (who'll be played by longtime TV actress Emily VanCamp in Captain America: The Winter Soldier) is along for the ride.

So, if this whole Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. thing takes off (and we have very high hopes), we could get another action-heavy spy series from Marvel in short order. What do you think? Are you ready for an Agent Carter show?

NBC Buys ‘Wizard Of Oz’ Drama From Matt Arnold As Frank Baum’s Classic Becomes The Hottest TV Property This Season

A century after the release of L. Frank Baum’s Wizard Of Oz series, the books have become the toast of this TV development season. NBC just nabbed Emerald City, an Oz-themed drama from Siberia creator/showrunner Matthew Arnold. Two weeks ago, CBS put in development Dorothy, a medical soap inspired by the characters and themes from The Wizard of Oz. I hear there is another Oz drama making the rounds from Heroes alums Adam Armus and Nora Kay Foster, with Heroes creator Tim Kring supervising. 

And just last month, Syfy picked up for development a miniseries titled Warriors Of Oz from director Timur Bekmambetov, a fantasy-action reimagining of the classic story. The great interest in Wizard Of Oz is not entirely unexpected as the title has been getting a lot of attention in conjunction with the upcoming 75th anniversary of the classic 1939 feature, which will include a 3D re-release of the Judy Garland starrer. It also comes on the heels of the success of Oz The Great And Powerful earlier this year.

Emerald City, which Arnold is writing and executive producing through Universal Television, is described as a dark reimagining of the classic tale of Oz in the vein of Game Of Thrones, drawing upon stories from Baum’s original 14 books. Following the success of the 1900 The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz, Baum wrote 13 sequel novels. 

Emerald City reunites Arnold with NBC, which acquired his mystery drama series Siberia that had been financed independently and sold internationally before finding a U.S. home on NBC as a summer series. Arnold wrote and directed the pilot and the season finale. He also co-wrote three additional episodes and directed seven of the first season’s 13 episodes. Arnold, repped by ICM Partners, David Engel at Circle Of Confusion and attorney Jennifer Levy, recently wrote and directed the supernatural thriller feature Shadow People.
