Which Doctor Who star may be up for a Star Wars VII role?

Rumor is there’s a Doctor Who star who may be up for a Star Wars: Episode VII role. Want to see who it is?

According to Bleeding Cool, there’s a rumor (coming from a well-placed source, no less) that Doctor Who's Eleventh Doctor himself, British actor Matt Smith, went in for a role in Star Wars VII.

It's not clear whether Smith has had an audition, did a screen test or just engaged in some timey-wimey chit-chat with director J.J. Abrams or George Lucas.

However, if Smith did, in fact, go in for an audition and ends up being cast in the upcoming Star Wars flick, then it’ll be an awesome case of two major sci-fi franchises colliding. Seeing a former Time Lord exchange his sonic screwdriver for a lightsaber? Now, THAT would be cool.

So, what do you guys think? If the rumor turns out to be true, do you believe that Matt Smith would make a great Jedi or even perhaps a great villain?

Son of original Doctor Who writer sues BBC claiming he owns the TARDIS

Doctor Who's 50th anniversary is supposed to be a time of celebration, but it might end up a time for serious legal battles instead.

Fifty years ago, the very first Doctor Who story starring First Doctor William Hartnell, "An Unearthly Child," aired on the BBC. The writer of that story, Australian BBC staff writer Anthony Coburn, had the honor of being among the first scribes to lend his name to one of the most influential science fiction series of all time. He also had the honor of being the first to write about the Doctor's legendary time machine, the TARDIS. Now, decades after Coburn first wrote about the Doctor, his son Stef has announced plans to sue the BBC over rights to the iconic blue police box, claiming his family should have been paid every time the box was used in a Doctor Who story.

Coburn claims that the BBC has breached the copyright of the TARDIS every year since 1977, the year of his father's death. He believes that, while his father may have given the BBC permission to use the iconic time machine, that permission expired when his father died, and then passed to his mother, who seems to have never said anything about it. Now that his mother has also passed away, Coburn believes all permissions for use of the TARDIS have passed to him, and that the BBC owes his family financial compensation for every use of the time machine since 1977.

"It is by no means my wish to deprive legions of Doctor Who fans (of whom I was never one) of any aspect of their favourite children's programme," Coburn said in a statement. "The only ends I wish to accomplish, by whatever lawful means present themselves, involve bringing about the public recognition that should by rights always have been his due, of my father James Anthony Coburn's seminal contribution to Doctor Who, and proper lawful recompense to his surviving estate."

The BBC has said it will investigate Coburn's complaint, though the company has received no other complaints about the rights to the TARDIS since it first registered a copyright on the time machine in the 1980s. According to Coburn, he would've filed a complaint sooner, but believed he didn't have the rights until after his mother passed. Now he claims the idea for the TARDIS was conceived after his father saw a blue police box on Wimbledon Common in the early 1960s. If you browse the BBC's own script archives from the early days of Doctor Who, though, it looks like the conceptual crafting of the TARDIS was likely a group effort, even if the name itself could have been the work of one man.

So this is either a case of a family member trying to capitalize on a particularly high-profile time for Doctor Who, or a real misstep on the part of the BBC. What do you think's going on here?

1st Day of the Doctor clip validates Matt Smith's Comic-Con hint

 When people asked for any time of teaser for The Doctor Who 50th episode, Matt Smith replied, "Paintings." Here's our first glimpse of why. 

People had assumed that we wouldn't be seeing any video for The Day of the Doctor until tomorrow's trailer, but the BBC have seen fit to grant us this early surprise. It's only the briefest of snippets, and yet, for reasons that will become clear in a moment, it's still really, really cool.



So Queen Elizabeth I's credentials appear to be a painting of an alien world burning. In fact, it could even be Gallifrey! 


Obviously, this is the tip of the iceberg, but it's neat that the BBC found a way to give fans a clip from this episode that feeds directly into what Matt Smith hinted at months ago.

Just the right glimpse to get us ready for tomorrow's trailer.

The BBC just released the Day of the Doctor's official synopsis.

If you can't wait any longer, now you can finally know what this landmark episode will actually be about. 

There are a slew of things we don't know about Doctor Who's 50th-anniversary episode, The Day of the Doctor, but right at the top of that list is -- what is it about? Because we've heard from Moffat about how, in contrast to most of the show's stories, this one fixates on the Doctor himself. Beyond that though, we just haven't known.

Until now.

"The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th anniversary special. In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.

That is ... not what we were expecting. Yes, we knew Queen Elizabeth would be involved, but the rest is quite a surprise. Is the murderous plot against Elizabeth herself? And is the ancient battle waging in space the time-locked Time War? And what has awakened? Is it the Zygon we've seen set photos of or something else entirely?"

As with most of the information that's been revealed about this episode, the more we know, the more we don't know. Still, that's the fun.

See 1st official pics from Doctor Who's 50th anniversary episode

Finally! The BBC has released the 1st official stills from its upcoming Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special. Allons-y! and Geronimo!

The six new gloriously awesome stills from the upcoming Big 5-0 anniversary bash “The Day of the Doctor” show Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor, David Tennant’s Ten and John Hurt’s very timey wimey mysterious Doctor.

Also featured are the Doctor’s current companion Jenna Coleman back (of course) as Clara, and Jemma Redgrave as the late Brigadier’s daughter Kate Stewart. Conspicuously missing are any pictures of Billie Piper who is also back as Rose Tyler.

Stephen Amell says Matt Smith would be 'hired immediately' for a role in Arrow

Can you believe his Doctor Who's Matt Smith might show up in Starling City.

Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisber is a major nerd & geek (just check out the numerous geeky references made on Arrow and you’ll see) and a massive Doctor Who fan to.

His current goal? Most likely to nab the former Time Lord himself for a guest role on the CW's superhero drama series—according to the show’s star himself.

Stephen Amell, who stars as Oliver Queen on Arrow, told SciFiNow:

“Andrew [Kreisberg] is such a Whovian, so if you were to say to him right now, ‘Number one guest star actor/actress, who would it be?’ Clearly it would be Matt Smith."

“I can tell you that if there was even the faintest chance that he is available, he would be hired immediately. They would probably hire him to take my job, they love Doctor Who so much.”

If Matt Smith signs up for an Arrow role and i guess it may not happen before Smith finishes his run of murdering psychopath Patrick Bates in the American Psycho musical which opens in London in December, he’ll be the third Doctor Who alum to appear on the series. 

The first being John Barrowman, aka Captain Jack Harkness, who’ll be back for season two. The second one is the Doctor’s wife herself, Alex Kingston, who played Dinah Lance in three episodes.

Wouldn't it be cool to have Matt Smith show up on Arrow.I would be saying it's the doctor the entire time how about you?

Moffat “probably done” with Weeping Angels

Steven Moffat has admitted that he is “probably done” writing any more episodes featuring the Weeping Angels. But he hasn’t ruled out other writers taking them on.

Speaking in an interview with Nerd³, he said: “I’m probably done to be honest on what you can do with the Weeping Angels. But other writers have to have a go. There’s only so many times you can think, ‘Right, it’s a chase scene and statues’. How many times can the lights flicker? What happens if a moth sees them? Is the alien invasion cancelled at that point?”

However, Moffat reveals another Doctor Who writer recently pitched a new story starring the Lonely Assassins: “It’s not going to happen but a very good Doctor Who writer pitched a great idea for the Weeping Angels the other day and I was very excited about it.

“We had a long phone call about it and I went away thinking, ‘That is going to be brilliant!’ And about two days later he admitted he wasn’t going to have time to do it. Hopefully we’ll get to it in the next year.”What do you think do you want more angels like me or do you not care either way!

Did 3 former Doctors spotted at the BBC film cameos for Who's Xmas special?

Production is well underway on the Doctor Who Christmas special, with Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, Orla Brady and some folk in Cybermen suits all working hard to send out this generation of The Doctor in fine style.

Meanwhile, I’ve heard fairly well-sourced and direct reports that three of the previous Doctors have been seen at the studios in Roath Lock, the BBC’s studio base for the show down in Cardiff Bay. The particular actors spotted were Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy. A couple of loose Tweets seem to corroborate what I was hearing, certainly enough that I think it’s worth passing on to you.

Now, the original reports came to me flavoured with gossip that the actors may well be showing up in the Christmas special and I suppose, okay, that’s not beyond the realms of possibility.

My hunch, though – and it is just a hunch – is that they’re filming a skit for one of the anniversary celebration shows. Indeed, I think they already shot some material down at the BBC’s old buildings in White City, and that was caught on cameraphone.

It’s nice to think that Doctors five, six and seven are playing along and have a good sense of fun. It continues to be of note that Doctors four and ten are nowhere to be seen.

I think that there’s possibly a very good reason that Paul McGann won’t take part in a sketch about being left out of the 50th anniversary special, but Tom Baker? Maybe he just doesn’t want to. Maybe he just didn’t find it money funny enough.

We’re less than two months out from the actual anniversary, and the screening of the 50th special. Can’t be more than… oh, seven weeks out from a trailer, can we? Eight weeks at most? Maybe eight weeks and a day?

Empire State Building TARDIS Blue For Who 50th

The BBC has already had some ideas, but here's a notion some Whovians are trying to get off the ground that i think is definitely worthwhile. 

If you live in New York City (or even if you just heard of it), you might be aware that, at night, the Empire State Building is lit up in different colors. Sometimes, specific colors are used to celebrate or honor something.

Doctor Who reaching its 50th Anniversary is something worth celebrating and honoring. With that in mind, New York SciFi & Fantasy decided they would start up a petition and work with the reps for the Empire State Building to light the skyscraper up a dark and sexy TARDIS blue for Who's 50th birthday.

It reached Over 2500 signatures in 21 hours!But in under 24 hours, the petition has already exceeded 3,000 of the 5,000 signatures it is hoping to achieve. We think reaching that goal should be easy and, frankly, the more signatures the better in such matters.

Professor says we'll be able to build a TARDIS-like time machine someday

Time machines similar to Dr Who’s Tardis are possible, Professor Brian Cox said in a speech at the British Science Festival.

“Can you build a time machine?” said Professor Cox. “The answer is yes.”

There’s just one, tiny problem, Professor Cox says - if you can build a machine capable of time-travel, you can only travel into the future. You can’t come back. 

Professor Cox also suggested that research at the LHC might uncover extra dimensions - thus, perhaps finally explaining how the Tardis is bigger on the inside. 

Professor Cox , a Dr Who fan, is to deliver a 60-minute speech on Dr Who to be screened by the BBC on November 23 - tackling questions such as extraterrestrial life, travelling to other dimensions and time travel. 

Professor Cox says that time travel is possible, and has already been done - albeit at a very small scale. The technology to accelerate something as big as a police box to near light speed does not yet exist. 

Professor Cox says that, armed with such technology, “You can go into the future; you've got almost total freedom of movement in the future.”

To “travel” forward in time, you simply need to accelerate to speeds close to the speed of light, Cox says - as you get close to that speed, time slows down, but only for you, according to Einstein’s Theory of Special Relativity.

“If you go fast, your clock runs slow relative to people who are still. As you approach the speed of light, your clock runs so slow you could come back 10,000 years in the future," said Professor Cox.

Cox said previously on Conan O’Brien’s chat show that travel into the past was “impossible”, saying, “You can travel into the future as fast as you like. You can’t travel into the past.” 

But in his speech in Birmingham, the physicist went into more detail - suggesting that “wormholes” often used in science fiction as portals through time may not offer a simple way to travel into the past.

 “In General Relativity, you can do it in principle. It's to do with building these things called wormholes; shortcuts through space and time. But most physicists doubt it. Hawking came up with the 'chronology protection conjecture' - physics we don't yet understand that means wormholes are not stable.”

Travelling between different dimensions, though, might be easier - a relief for the Doctor, for whom “transdimensional engineering” was a key part of the Tardis.

Cox says, “We look for extra dimensions at the LHC (Large Hadron Collider). You can imagine extra dimensions in space, and that we are living on a sheet of higher dimensional space.” 

Whether this explains how the interior of the Tardis is “dimensionally transcendental” -  bigger on the inside - will perhaps be revealed in Cox’s speech on the 23rd.

The 1st Doctor Who Xmas Special Pics (Plus The First Pics Of Matt Smith's Wig)

The first filming pics from Doctor Who’s upcoming Xmas special are here, along with Matt Smith’s wig! As a bonus, we also have the title for Who's upcoming 50th anniversary bash.

So first things first.

Doctor Who was recently caught filming, along with Matt Smith's new wig (which is looking mighty fine and dandy, if we can say so ourselves. That's one possible disaster of epic proportion avoided)—and just so you know, wigs are cool.

Filming for Matt Smith’s swansong as the Eleventh Doctor began Sunday, and Matt and Jenna Coleman, who plays the Doctor’s companion Clara, were all on hand; as was that good old sexy TARDIS.

Now, as for the second little piece of news, the title for Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary special—which will be 75-minutes long, by the way—starring Smith, Coleman, David Tennant, Billie Piper and John Hurt is: "The Day Of The Doctor."

Look which black actor was almost Who's Eleventh Doctor instead of Matt Smith

A few days ago, Neil Gaiman revealed that a black actor had been offered the role of the Doctor on Who. Now we may have a name.

According to The Mirror—so please take this with a grain (or bucket) of salt—inside sources on the show have revealed that actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (some of you may recall him as the main bad guy on Joss Whedon’s Serenity, among many, many other roles) was offered the role of the Eleventh Time Lord (not the Twelfth) and declined the life-changing part because terms could not be agreed upon.

They claim that Matt Smith would never have gotten the role if Ejiofor had agreed to a deal back in 2009.

Now this follows a recent reveal, in the wake of the casting of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, from fantasy author and sometimes Doctor Who writer (the magnificent "The Doctor's Wife" and "Nightmare in Silver") Neil Gaiman that a black actor had almost been cast in the role of the beloved Time Lord.

This is what Gaiman has said regarding the possibilies of casting a black Doctor, revealing that it almost happened:

“Of course. (I thought I’d said that I was disappointed that it didn’t happen this time, and that there are some amazing actors out there. I was rather disappointed that Paterson Joseph didn’t get it last time, although I’ve loved Matt’s Eleven.) And yes, I have no doubt there will be. (I know one black actor who was already offered the part of the Doctor, and who turned it down.) Just as there will be a female Doctor.”
So, not Paterson Joseph as Gaiman mentioned, then. (And if The Mirror is right, of course.)

In the wake of Neil Gaiman’s comments, the Mirror reveals it has contacted several sources who claimed they were “100 percent confident” it was Ejiofor. However, the actor’s agents have not returned their calls, while the BBC has said that it was “pure speculation” to use Ejiofor’s name.

As for the casting of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, the BBC—as well as Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat—have made it quite clear he was their first choice for the role of the Doctor.

In the meanwhile, Gaiman has apparently backtracked by claiming he has no inside knowledge of the casting process, saying: "No, [the black actor] didn't turn down the role of the Twelfth Doctor. There have been many Doctors cast over the years." The important thing here being Doctor number twelve.

And The 12th Doctor Is.....

And the TARDIS goes to....Peter Capaldi!


Scottish actor Peter Capaldi was named the newest star of the British TV series Doctor Who on Sunday in a live broadcast on BBC America. He is taking the place of the departing 11th Doctor Matt Smith who leaves the show later this year.

"It's so wonderful not to keep this secret any longer," said Capaldi, who has been a lifelong fan of the show. "I haven't played Doctor Who since I was 9 on the playground."

Capaldi, 55, will be the 12th man to play The Doctor since the series started in 1963 and the 4th Doctor since the series rebooted in 2005. Executive producer Steven Moffat had considered Capaldi when they were casting the 11th Doctor. "There comes a right time for the right person to play it," he said.

"We all had the same idea and it was a quite different idea," Moffat added. When he and his team made a video with Capaldi, "everybody saw it and was like, 'That's the Doctor.' "

12th Doctor Going To Be Revealed on Sunday

Normally Doctor Who TV is wary of writing up”big announcements”, especially when there has been a string of rumours lately that have amounted to nothing. However, it’s finally happening!

Press sources have leaked that the BBC will finally announce the 12th Doctor this weekend.

A special programme on will air this Sunday 4 August at 7pm on BBC1 entitled Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor. A deliberate disposable repeat of Celebrity Mastermind is currently listed in the timeslot.

The show is going to be filmed in front of a live studio audience with Zoe Ball unveiling the next Doctor. The show will also feature interviews with past Doctors and companions.

Interestingly, this week saw Peter Capaldi inexplicably leap to the top of the bookies lists. Is this because he’s won the role? We’ll find out soon enough.

The BBC are expected to officially confirm the programme at midnight.

COMIC-CON 2013 TOP 10 MOMENTS

Now that Comic-Con International attendees have had some time to eat, sleep, wash off their face paint and pack away their blasters and batarangs, it’s time to look back at some of the most memorable moments of the expo.

“It’s a place where you can be who you are, or who you want to be,” said David Glanzer, spokesman for the San Diego convention, which wrapped up Sunday. “I think for a lot of us who grew up and our interests weren’t always necessarily in the mainstream, it’s great to pal around with 134,000 people who probably share your interests.”

Here are are top 10 moments from Comic-Con 2013, as well as a few honorable mentions. Did we miss something? Let us know in the comments.

10. Zombies invade the Gaslamp Quarter

It seems apt that the undead had such a presence in San Diego this year since it is the 10th anniversary of Robert Kirkman’s acclaimed comic series “The Walking Dead.” In addition to panels for the comic and the television show it spawned, Comic-Con was the scene of some pretty rad zombie cosplay, The Walking Dead Escape zombie obstacle course, and the seventh annual Zombie Walk, a sort of undead parade through the streets of San Diego.

9. Fans (and celebrities) get their costume on

Cosplay, a mix of costume creation and role-playing, is one of Comic-Con’s oldest traditions. Spandex-wearing superheroes, helmeted space troopers, sword-wielding warriors and plodding robots were all part of this year’s show floor pageantry (check out the photos here). Even celebrities got dressed up for Comic-Con — “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston cosplayed on the exhibition floor as his character Walter White. “I used a higher voice,” Cranston told Hall H during the show’s Sunday panel. “It was fun getting to meet all of you, and you got to meet me.”

Cranston also attached the mask to his microphone and costar Aaron Paul made out with it, as Hero Complex contributor Patrick Day reports, but that’s another story.

8. Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman” is back in the spotlight

Neil Gaiman’s seminal comic “Sandman” was back out of the Dreaming and into the waking world at Comic-Con. The DC/Vertigo myth-and-literature-rich dark fantasy epic’s 25th anniversary was celebrated on the cover of the official souvenir book every attendee received and on one of the convention’s official T-shirts. Gaiman and artist J.H. Williams III were both the subjects of spotlight panels, in addition to a “Sandman” program on Saturday, previewing the upcoming “Sandman: Overture” miniseries.

When Gaiman was writing “Sandman” in 1988, he wrote for himself and his colleagues. “Now I’m doing it for millions of people, and in my head they’re all looking over my shoulder while I write and they’re all going, ‘This better be worth waiting for. It better be good,’” Gaiman said. “So that is actually genuinely nerve-racking.”

Though story details for “Overture” are scarce, Gaiman promises his first Sandman tale in 10 years will be a “very, very strange book,” Hero Complex contributor Blake Hennon reported.

7. “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” brings the laughs

Joss Whedon screened his anticipated new Marvel Television/ABC pilot “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”  on Friday, revealing a superhero show firmly in the humorous Whedon mold, Hero Complex contributor Rebecca Keegan reported.

Clark Gregg, whose well-liked character Agent Phil Coulson was dramatically killed off in “The Avengers,” received a standing ovation from the audience in the convention center’s 5,000-seat Ballroom 20. In the new show, Coulson is resurrected and assembles a team of espionage and law enforcement agents. Despite an ambitious action sequence, most of the show’s firepower came from its witty dialogue, which was peppered with sly winks at fan culture. Which is just fine with us.

6. The heroines of YA fiction shine

Actresses like Jennifer Lawrence and Shailene Woodley are in the spotlight as Hollywood continues to draw from young adult fiction for sci-fi and fantasy tales featuring young women in empowered roles. Lawrence, the newly anointed Oscar winner who plays heroine Katniss Everdeen, was her usual mixture of honesty and self-deprecating humor during “The Hunger Games” panel on Saturday. And the “Catching Fire” trailer debut elicited raucous applause from the Hall H audience, Hero Complex contributor Nicole Sperling writes.

Meanwhile, Woodley’s overwhelmed response to questions during Thursday’s “Divergent” panel was sweet and earnest. “There are so many of you guys out there,” the wide-eyed actress said when asked a generic question. The film, based on Veronica Roth’s series of novels set in postapocalyptic Chicago, is highly anticipated by fans of the books.

5. Andrew Garfield charms as Spider-Man

At Sony’s Hall H panel on Friday, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ star Andrew Garfield made a dramatic entrance dressed as Spider-Man.
“I come to Comic-Con every year,” he said, in character. “It’s the only place I feel normal and I can blend into the crowd.”

Footage from the film, which revealed some of villain Electro’s (played by Jamie Foxx) origin story, drew applause and cheers, and Garfield continued to charm the audience with his stunning mix of humility, honesty and that old-fashioned British charm, Hero Complex contributor Nicole Sperling writes. He also defended his previous remarks that he could see Spider-Man being in a gay, interracial relationship.

“Spider-Man stands for everyone, ” Garfield said. “He’s covered head to toe. You don’t know his race, his sexuality. He stands for the underdog. He stands for those who need protecting.”

4. Fans interact with their heroes

A huge part of Comic-Con is the opportunity for fans to interact with their favorite actors, directors, comic-book creators and other pop-culture idols. That spirit was exemplified by several actors and creators this year. Throughout the weekend, “Doctor Who” stars Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman drove around San Diego, rolling down the window to compliment “Doctor Who” cosplayers, the stars revealed during the show’s Sunday panel. At Syfy’s Friday panel for its series “Haven,” nearly every fan who participated in the Q&A portion got a hug from a panelist, Hero Complex writer Jevon Phillips reported. And during DC Comics’ “Superman: The New 52 Era” panel on Sunday, “Action Comics” and “Superman” writer Scott Lobdell showed off a homemade comic given to him by a 9-year-old girl who creates under the pen name Amy Elk. Impressed with her “Blue Bird,” he said, “So years from now when we’re at a convention and Amy Elk is up here with us, I want you to remember that this was her first comic.”

Ms. Elk came to the microphone during the Q&A session to ask why two titles she liked – “Superman Family Adventures” and “Tiny Titans” – had been canceled, Hero Complex writer Blake Hennon reported. After DC Comics co-publisher and “Superman Unchained” artist Jim Lee talked about the importance of the kids line and what’s coming up, he asked her to come back next year and tell them how they’re doing. The young comics fan had a second question: Does Superman ever smile?

“Unchained” writer Scott Snyder said that  the hero will “smile pretty big” after he emerges victorious from his tribulations in the series. And DC Entertainment marketing’s John Cunningham, the panel’s moderator, awarded her a prize for her question: a Superman hat with the hero on the brim, smiling. Awww.

3. “X-Men: Days of Future Past” cast makes surprise visit

The entire cast of “X-Men: Days of Future Past” — including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Evan Peters, Shawn Ashmore and Omar Sy — assembled on the Hall H stage in a surprise appearance during the Fox panel Saturday afternoon.

McKellen got the biggest laugh during the presentation. The openly gay actor and activist said he felt “safe” returning to California after Proposition 8 was dismissed, and then turned to Fassbender and said, “I’m looking for a husband. It’s great to meet you, Michael.”

2. Superman and Batman will face off on the big screen

The announcement of a planned Superman-Batman film was no doubt the biggest news to come out of Comic-Con. During Saturday’s Warner Bros. panel, surprise guests “Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder and actor Harry Lennix unveiled the news, reading an excerpt from Frank Miller’s landmark comic “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns”: “I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.” Then, Superman’s logo appeared on the screen, the Batman symbol faded in behind it, and the Hall H audience erupted in cheers and screams.

Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman. The film will be written by Snyder and “The Dark Knight” trilogy co-writer David Goyer. Batman has yet to be cast. Hero Complex contributor Nicole Sperling broke the news early.

1. Marvel: Loki steals the show

Marvel’s show-stopping panel presentation on Saturday featured an introduction by “Thor: The Dark World” actor Tom Hiddleston in full Loki costume. “You should have let me rule you when you had the chance, yet here you are,” Hiddleston told his adoring Hall H audience. “Your ears yearn for untold stories. Your eyes crave unseen sights. Your imaginations ache and hunger. Where are your Avengers now?”

For Hiddleston, the surprise appearance was “a top-secret stealth mission” involving a Jango Fett disguise, Hiddleston told Hero Complex editor Gina McIntyre. Hiddleston described the epic performance as his biggest stage show ever. “There was a sort of electric-charged atmosphere with the audience,” he said. “When I walked out onstage, I was confronted with a wall of sound and fury, to quote the Bard. It was extraordinary.”

Extraordinary, indeed.

What Matt Smith Thinks On His Doctor's Regeneration 'I know how it ends... I turn into a woman'.

Matt Smith has revealed how he would like to see his Doctor Who character regenerate - by turning into a woman.
The 30-year-old actor made the admission during a question and answer session at Comic-Con on Thursday.
When asked how he would like his character to die, Matt replied: 'I feel like I already know how it ends. There's a golden light, open a TARDIS, put my arms out... and then I turn into a woman!'
Matt's comments come after frenzied speculation about the identity of the new Time Lord, with rumours that a female actress such as Helen Mirren could even take the role.
British actor Matt was speaking alongside a number of young actors who play heroes including Kit Harington of Game of Thrones and Steven Yeun of The Walking Dead.
Matt also revealed he was 'quite clumsy' during the panel discussion, after being asked what part of his character he sees most in himself.
He said: 'I'm a bit clumsy. But he's a 1,000 year old Time Lord. He's just a much better creature than I am.'
The actor, who recently revealed he was leaving his role as the Time Lord after four years, spoke about the strangest thing a fan has done to him.
He explained: 'A little girl, of about 12, was in a bush and jumped out. She was a cool kid, but I had to tell her to go home.'
In June Matt revealed that he was leaving his post as the Doctor and said it had been ‘an honour’ to play the Doctor but added: ‘When you gotta go, you’ve gotta go.’
Matt's last episode will be the Christmas special and the hunt is on for a new actor to take on the role.
Smith – who has just started filming the movie How To Catch A Monster, with director Ryan Gosling – said: ‘Doctor Who has been the most brilliant experience for me as an actor and a bloke, and that largely is down to the cast, crew and fans.
