Marvel’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Footage Revealed

Get set for a ride into the “galaxy,” as Marvel’s forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy was previewed to audiences yesterday at the Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige said the excitement they feel for this film reminds them of their anticipation in working on Iron Man, the studio’s first installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“That excites us to debut something brand new,” Feige said.

The cast currently is in London to shoot the film, but Feige offered the audience a sneak peek, among the first to catch this footage.

The early scene reveals Chris Pratt‘s character entering a mysterious building – perhaps a temple – with a flashlight, exploring his surroundings. Suddenly he is approached by men asking who he is. We know Pratt’s character: Star-Lord, otherwise known as Peter Quill.

Then it jumps to a scene involving John C. Reilly‘s Rhomann Dey analyzing profiles of the Guardians of the Galaxy, including Zoe Saldana‘s Gamora and Rocket the Raccoon.

“They call themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy,” Rhomann says.

This clip was only previously shown only at last month’s Comic-Con in San Diego.

We will find out more about these characters when the film debuts August 1, 2014.

Vin Diesel May Have ANOTHER Role In A Marvel Film

Yeah, we all know that Vin Diesel will be voicing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy next year. But could he also have a much bigger role in Marvel’s Phase 3?

That’s what the action star seems to be hinting at in a new interview, where he describes the Groot role as just something to appease fans in the interim — until he jumps into a much bigger Marvel role in the future.

But it’s even crazier than that. Diesel describes the mysterious future role as something “so big” that represents a “merging of brands.” What the hell does that mean? A super-Marvel movie bringing together the Guardians and Avengers? A crossover into the X-Men-verse?

Read Diesel’s comments via Total Film and give us your best guess:

“When I met with Marvel it wasn’t for anything immediate. It was to talk about a film that would be introduced in the Phase 3 part of Marvel, not for a few years ... It was even talking about something so big I can’t even talk about because it’s like the merging of brands in a way, which I won’t get into. That was something way, way, way, way, way down the road.”

Marvel talks to me and says ‘We’re going to send something over in two weeks. We want to focus on the 2016 but we also want to, if possible, answer this growing request for something now.’”

If nothing else, this definitely has our curiosity piqued. Marvel is known to think several years in advance, and it makes sense they’d be brainstorming Phase 3 right about now. So what are Diesel and Marvel planning?

Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana to Reunite in Guardians of the Galaxy

Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana are getting back together…on screen.
The former couple, who called it quits right before the holidays in 2012, are reuniting for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, an action flick that follows a pilot and his team of aliens as they battle cosmic threats, according to Deadline.

Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly and Glenn Close are also set to star in the film.

This is the second film Cooper and Saldana have starred in together, with their romance kicking off in 2010 after meeting on the set of their drama flick, The Words.
Both of the actors have moved on since their split, with Cooper romancing model Suki Waterhouse and Saldana linked to Italian artist Marco Perego.

It's not clear if there will be any awkward moments for the duo though, considering Cooper will only be voicing his character Rocket Raccoon in the film, rather than physically acting in it.

There's still the matter of the promo tour though, once the movie nears its premiere date.
Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released Aug. 1, 2014.

Vin Diesel hints plans for Groot in Guardians

He might’ve been up for a standalone movie role originally, but Vin Diesel has now joined up with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. So how exactly is he planning to bring the ass-kicking tree alien Groot to life?

While chatting with The Huffington Post, Diesel opened up about his decision to join the project and why he’s excited to play Groot. It’s an admittedly weird casting move, mostly because (in the comics) Groot is best known for only uttering the phrase “I am Groot,” which can mean many different things depending on his inflection.

So how does Diesel plan on bringing a character to life when he will, probably, just have one line? That’s the fun part, and he believes his potential three-word line still leaves a lot of space for his acting skills to shine.

“The idea of bringing that physicality to a CGI character always tantalized me. To strip away everything is insane. In this case, the voice plays heavily into it, too. I don't know what kind of dialogue will be in it, but even if it stayed true to character, there's so much one can do with ‘I am Groot.’ It's the kind of challenge very few actors ever get.”

We still don’t know exactly how director James Gunn will imagine the character on the big screen, but whatever he has in mind, it looks like Diesel is up to the challenge. Do you think Diesel is the right choice for Groot?

Vin Diesel Says He Talked With Marvel About Starring In His OWN Film

He may be playing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, but that wasn't Marvel's original plan for Vin Diesel.

Vin Diesel, despite being known mostly for voicing The Iron Giant and playing Riddick, is actually a pretty versatile actor. Marvel recognized this when they first had him come in to talk about his potential involvement in their upcoming movies.

Despite his voice acting ability, Groot was not the original intent for Diesel. Instead, there was the possibility that he'd get a franchise all his own. According to Diesel, "What we were originally talking about was a fresh IP (Intellectual Property) and that was the focus of our conversation."

Which has us wondering who he might have originally been tapped to play. Doctor Strange? Iron Fist? Ant Man? Even his wording is interesting. Could Marvel be considering creating movies based on brand new characters and then retroactively incorporating them into comics?

Meanwhile, Vin Diesel isn't definitely Groot yet. He's still got to work it out. "It's still up to my reps to allow that to happen," says Diesel. That probably boils down to time and money but, considering how much he's talking about it, we're pretty sure Vin Diesel will find a way to be Groot.
