Saoirse Ronan Responds To Star Wars And Fantastic Four Casting Rumours

       















You shouldn't believe every rumour you hear.....

Hanna and The Host star Saoirse Ronan was supposudley up for the role of Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron movie (which was taken by Elisabeth Olsen), then she was auditioning for a major role in Star Wars. As well as both of those rumours, one came up about her being cast as Sue Storm in the up and coming Fantastic Four reboot. The first rumour was proved false but what about the other 2?

Saoirse responded to both of these rumours in recent interviews saying:

"I don't have 'Star Wars.' I don't have the role," Ronan said. "I just shouldn't have said anything. I just auditioned for it, like everyone else did."

While she was trying to get the Star Wars role the Fantastic Four rumour was just that:

"I only heard that rumor. I'm not signed up for 'Fantastic Four,'" Ronan said.

Episode VII finally has an official release date

In the sort of official announcement that, like a planet made entirely of ice or dust, passes for genuine life in the endless void of Star Wars news, Disney and Lucasfilm have officially given Episode VII the release date of Dec. 18, 2015. 

Disney chairman Alan Horn said in a statement that the date would “not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture.

” That latter point is already the subject of some controversy, after reports surfaced in the wake of Michael Arndt leaving that the film’s creative team—including Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy—had pushed for a delay to 2016, a request that Disney CEO Robert Iger accepted with the same sense of forgiveness Darth Vader showed Captain Needa.

Nevertheless, Abrams said today that he and Lawrence Kasdan specifically took over in order to meet that time frame, which now has a definitive end date to when we can stop speculating about things like that. 


It’s also worth noting that this will be the first Star Wars film to be released not in May but rather around Christmas

—because what goes together better than Star Wars and Christmas?

J.J. Abrams Comments On Benedict Cumberbatch STAR WARS Rumor

When the initial word of Benedict Cumberbatch's involvement in J.J Abrams' new Star Wars flick hit it was almost immediately dismissed as fan casting, before being denied by the actor's reps. But the rumor refused to go away, with the latest report from Latino review claiming that Cumberbtach is definitely, 100% in the movie (and the next two films in the new trilogy), no matter what he or anyone else involved may say to the contrary. Well now we have a quote on it from Abrams himself, who was quizzed about the rumor by LA Times reporter Yvonne Villarreal Who tweeted :


"JJ Abrams on #StarWars: "We're working our asses off trying to get things in place w/ casting." Benedict Cumberbatch? "I love that guy."



Hardly confirmation, but far from a dismissal at the same time. Of course Abrams' secrecy and fondness for deception also has to be taken into account, and he may just be keeping the rumor mill spinning. What do you guys think?

Bad Robot Are Building A Special Star Wars Facility

Star Wars: Episode VII was set to film in London. But the film's director J.J. Abrams found a way to bring the production back to LA..

JJ Abram's Bad Robot production company is getting itself ready for the arrival of Star Wars, and that includes investing in a new post-production facility in LA.

Some of the reason for this probably has something to do with JJ Abrams' wanting to work closer to his home.  Its a sort of small secret that Abrams would not really want to shoot Star Wars: Episode VII, as has been announced.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Abrams has, so far, shot all of his films in LA, where he had even covered some of the extra costs on Star Trek Into Darkness to keep the production closer to him.

Apparently the new additions to the Bad Robot complex includes editing bays, a prop workshop and a screening room.

Here's the Star Wars quote most people get wrong

The most famous line in Star Wars history might be one that's never actually said in a Star Wars movie.

If you grew up with the name Luke, or you know someone who did, you're probably familiar with this scenario: Every time a guy named Luke introduces himself to anyone, there's at least a 50 percent chance that person will reply by taking on a deep voice and droning "Luuuuuke ... I am your father."

We've all heard this happen and we've all seen the Luke in question roll his eyes every single time, but next time it happens, perhaps guys named Luke can fight back against the cliche by pointing out that that particular line is never uttered in the classic twist scene in The Empire Strikes Back, which shows Darth Vader revealing to Luke Skywalker that they are actually father and son.

To be fair, Vader does in fact say "Luuuuke" during the scene, and the phrase "I am your father" is definitely uttered. They're just never said together. Here's the actual exchange:

Vader: "Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father."

Luke: "He told me enough! He told me you killed him!"

Vader: "No. I am your father."

So why do so many viewers consistenly get it wrong? Perhaps because it simply sounds better to say it all together like that, or because it's just easier to deliver all the information in a single sentence rather than relying on a second quoter to feed you Luke's lines. Whatever the case, it's been one of cinema's most common misquotes (along with lines like "Play it again, Sam" from Casablanca) for more than 30 years, and though Star Wars superfans already know this information, it's always worth putting out a reminder to those who are still in the dark because they haven't seen Empire 45 times yet.

So the next time you're faced with listening to that line for the thousandth time, feel free to fight back with the truth.

Star Wars Rebels: More Artwork and Details from Celebration 2

What was incredibly surprising about the Star Wars Rebels panel was that more people were in attendance than for Kathleen Kennedy’s big debut. It might have been that they knew she was not going to drop any major “EP7” (what she called Episode 7) news. There is also the possibility that Star Wars Rebels is closer to release (still 2014) and the fever pitch is building. Regardless, the main stage at Celebration 2 got bigger than ever before for news on the new animated series.

The press release has some details, but not the perspective of actually being on hand. Mania was fortunate enough to be present for the panel. 

Dave Filoni will be the Supervising Director as well as one of the Executive producers of Star Wars Rebels. He’ll be joined by Greg Wiseman and Simon Kingberg, who will also Executive Produce the series. Filoni wanted this series to have the same fun and energy of the original films. The new series will be completely and intentionally different from The Clone Wars. So where does one begin? Filoni’s answer was with Ralph McQuarrie, the original Star Wars concept designer.

Filoni then revealed several pieces of unused McQuarrie art as well and inspirational pieces.

Filoni wants the show to own and emulate the flavor that is in McQuarrie’s paintings. How does he paint characters?

He also pointed out how smooth everything looks, as if it were brand new. What we see in A New Hope is not brand new, it is lived in. If this series is to be before Episode 4, then it should have that McQuarrie look.

Where it really gets interesting on a technical side is that Filoni spoke about the new digital brushes they developed. These brushes will recreate the style in which McQuarrie painted. They have also developed a new facial rig to give the characters a better expression than they had in The Clone Wars. 

Since Lucasfilm is now a part of Disney, he knows that there will be a great collaboration with Pixar and Disney’s Animation studio to make Rebels the best show possible. It was, in fact, the animation style for Disney’s Tangled that let him see a new direction in which they could go. 

Here are some of the images that Filoni revealed during the Star Wars Rebels panel:

The New Stormtroopers (longer snouts).

The TIE Fighters (wings are shorter).

The Ghost (center piece to the show).

Filoni really wants this show to be a precursor to A New Hope. So, they have had to reverse engineer a lot the designs we know and love. All the material is there based on Ralph McQuarrie’s original concepts. He even said that they have gone as far as learning what lens and types of film stock they used in a New Hope to give Rebels that same look.

When asked if any characters from Clone Wars would appear in Rebels, he became very coy. Filoni told us that his wife says he is a terrible liar. However, he has learned about deflection from a true Master. He loves the characters that he has created, so you never know. Yet, Filoni was quick to point out that each generation of Star Wars fans needs its own characters, which is evident with The Clone Wars. 



Star Wars Rebels is scheduled to premiere in Fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, and will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

When it comes to character sketches versus the final, cinematic result, you never know what you'll discover. Sometimes the original intent remains entirely or in part until the very end. Other times, the sketch and the product are as far from each other as two things can be.

Epic fan video cuts 50+ movies into greatest most epic sci-fi trailer ever

WOW when i first watched this trailer my jaw dropped i was wishing it was real.You know every sci-fi trailer these days try to play up the “epic-ness” of the story? Well, this is what happens when you take all those moments and chop them into a 6-minute masterpiece of intensity WOW.

The peeps Behind the Epic have decided to make the de-facto movie trailer of the year, and it’s guaranteed to get your blood pumping with excitment. It also makes us wonder what would happen if all these characters met in a awesome super-crossover.

They’ve included quite a list of flicks, ranging from The Dark Knight Rises to Pacific Rim to The Lord of the Rings and about everything in between.
