Marvel’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Footage Revealed

Get set for a ride into the “galaxy,” as Marvel’s forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy was previewed to audiences yesterday at the Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige said the excitement they feel for this film reminds them of their anticipation in working on Iron Man, the studio’s first installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“That excites us to debut something brand new,” Feige said.

The cast currently is in London to shoot the film, but Feige offered the audience a sneak peek, among the first to catch this footage.

The early scene reveals Chris Pratt‘s character entering a mysterious building – perhaps a temple – with a flashlight, exploring his surroundings. Suddenly he is approached by men asking who he is. We know Pratt’s character: Star-Lord, otherwise known as Peter Quill.

Then it jumps to a scene involving John C. Reilly‘s Rhomann Dey analyzing profiles of the Guardians of the Galaxy, including Zoe Saldana‘s Gamora and Rocket the Raccoon.

“They call themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy,” Rhomann says.

This clip was only previously shown only at last month’s Comic-Con in San Diego.

We will find out more about these characters when the film debuts August 1, 2014.

The Dark World TV spot shows off a more Loki

Loki!! Remember marvel said there reshooting a while back to add more Loki? Well, the latest trailer for Thor: The Dark World shows off a bit more of what we can expect.

A new TV spot for the upcoming Marvel sequel has been released, showing off a few more snippets of footage with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Adding in The Avengers, their relationship has almost always been at the center of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — and it looks like they’ll have a lot to do on the third go ‘round.

I don’t exactly know what help Loki will provide in Thor’s battle against Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) and the Dark Elves, but i dying to find out. Heck, fans are already petitioning for a standalone Loki movie, so we’ll take as much of the little trickster as we can get.

The newest Thor sequel opens November 8. Are you glad to see we’ll have a little more Loki than expected?

Artist Celeste Pille Reboots Skimpy Female Superhero Costumes To Be More Practical

Have you ever wondered how all those female superheroes would manage to fight crime in those skimpy leotards? Truth is, they probably couldn't.

Artist Celeste Pille, who took a commission from BuzzFeed to attempt creating more functional and realistic costume redesigns of 12 female superheroes that have quite impractical costumes.

"I love a cute leotard, but if I were to actually send these women out to fight evil, I’d make sure they have proper breast support, flesh protection, and no clothing that rides up the butt," Pille said on her Tumblr

With all of that in mind, Pille got to work on coming up with redesigned costumes for female heroes like Scarlet Witch, Huntress, Powergirl and more.

We've gathered our top 5 outfits but you can view them all here.

What do you think, should Marvel & DC Comics be using some of these designs?

Vin Diesel May Have ANOTHER Role In A Marvel Film

Yeah, we all know that Vin Diesel will be voicing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy next year. But could he also have a much bigger role in Marvel’s Phase 3?

That’s what the action star seems to be hinting at in a new interview, where he describes the Groot role as just something to appease fans in the interim — until he jumps into a much bigger Marvel role in the future.

But it’s even crazier than that. Diesel describes the mysterious future role as something “so big” that represents a “merging of brands.” What the hell does that mean? A super-Marvel movie bringing together the Guardians and Avengers? A crossover into the X-Men-verse?

Read Diesel’s comments via Total Film and give us your best guess:

“When I met with Marvel it wasn’t for anything immediate. It was to talk about a film that would be introduced in the Phase 3 part of Marvel, not for a few years ... It was even talking about something so big I can’t even talk about because it’s like the merging of brands in a way, which I won’t get into. That was something way, way, way, way, way down the road.”

Marvel talks to me and says ‘We’re going to send something over in two weeks. We want to focus on the 2016 but we also want to, if possible, answer this growing request for something now.’”

If nothing else, this definitely has our curiosity piqued. Marvel is known to think several years in advance, and it makes sense they’d be brainstorming Phase 3 right about now. So what are Diesel and Marvel planning?

Vin Diesel Says He Talked With Marvel About Starring In His OWN Film

He may be playing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, but that wasn't Marvel's original plan for Vin Diesel.

Vin Diesel, despite being known mostly for voicing The Iron Giant and playing Riddick, is actually a pretty versatile actor. Marvel recognized this when they first had him come in to talk about his potential involvement in their upcoming movies.

Despite his voice acting ability, Groot was not the original intent for Diesel. Instead, there was the possibility that he'd get a franchise all his own. According to Diesel, "What we were originally talking about was a fresh IP (Intellectual Property) and that was the focus of our conversation."

Which has us wondering who he might have originally been tapped to play. Doctor Strange? Iron Fist? Ant Man? Even his wording is interesting. Could Marvel be considering creating movies based on brand new characters and then retroactively incorporating them into comics?

Meanwhile, Vin Diesel isn't definitely Groot yet. He's still got to work it out. "It's still up to my reps to allow that to happen," says Diesel. That probably boils down to time and money but, considering how much he's talking about it, we're pretty sure Vin Diesel will find a way to be Groot.

Will Loki Return In Avengers 2? Tom Hiddleston Tells All

So if you're an Avengers fan you've probably been wondering whether or not Loki will make a return in the Avengers sequel. Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki spoke to Entertainment Weekly and ended the speculation.

“He’s not in it,” Hiddleston said. “Here’s the thing: I don’t think there’s anything else Loki could contribute to The Avengers, narratively. Joss gave me so many wonderful things to do in that first film that we’d only be trying to repeat ourselves, and probably less well in the second one.”

“When I think of all the things I loved as a child, for example, Hans Gruber wasn't in Die Hard 2. And in Indiana Jones, by the time he moved from the Lost Ark to the Temple of Doom, there was a whole new bad guy," Hiddleston explains. "I think keeping it fresh and new is good for The Avengers even though it’s a shame for me. And let’s face it, there’s seven or eight of them as it is, and Joss is thinking about adding two more, so the screen’s gonna be a busy place. But I had the time of my life on that film. It was the most fun ever.”

Sorry to disappoint, but don't get too sad about this. Loki is mainly featured in Thor: The Dark World, which will launch in theaters this fall.

Hiddleston commented, “Oh, I’ve got plenty to do in Thor [2], believe me. A lot of new stuff. It’s a new iteration of the character. It’s a new development. Another trick, another poker game for the god of mischief. And he plays it well.”

Thor: The Dark World opens in theaters Nov. 8, while The Avengers: Age of Ultron debuts May 1, 2015

The Dancing Captain America of Comic-Con 2013 [Video]

San Diego Comic Con is full of all sorts of sights and sounds: from the event staff yelling directions to wandering attendees, to college kids handing out postcard advertisements for various companies, to pedicab drivers hounding you to take a ride. Another thing you’ll see while walking around the historic Gaslamp District in San Diego are the downtrodden people asking for spare change or sleeping on the sidewalk, as many people  walk by pretending they aren’t there.
Some panhandlers find very creative ways to get the attention (and money) of pedestrians passing by them – playing music on a guitar, banjo or radio. Others will dress as various superheroes, attempting to blend in with the other people in the area: which is where we discovered  Hamilton, The Dancing Captain America. Hamilton isn’t actually homeless, but rather a disabled American veteran who may be down on his luck, but isn’t down on himself.

Hamilton, The Dancing Comic-Con Captain America
Every year during Comic-Con, instead of merely asking for handouts, Hamilton dances for donations – and it’s a sight to behold. Draped in the colors of The First Avenger: Captain America, with enough bandannas strapped to his wrist to make Steven Tyler’s microphone stand jealous, Hamilton whirls, spins, and sashays his way in and out of traffic, giving very little concern to the gawking looks and sometimes cruel words thrown his way.
The only time he stops dancing is to change the station on his Dewalt radio (he favors rock over pop) or to say hello to a little child who doesn’t see a “crazy” man dancing in the streets, but rather, their favorite superhero having fun and entertaining crowds of people.
‘Captain America The First Avenger’ USO Scene
Most of the time, Hamilton does his performance in front of cellphones and other lower-quality cameras – but this time, talented filmmaker and Screen Rant contributor Mike Eisenberg (Creative Director at Tall Tale Productions) was there to capture everything with his high-end video camera. Mike then took  his raw footage, cut it down and set it to the tune of “Star Spangled Man” – which was the song Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) sings during a World War II U.S.O. show in First Avenger.
Eisenberg has managed to make a funny and heartwarming video that uses images instead of words to remind audiences that by passing by one of these unique street performers, they could be missing out on something more entertaining than the over-funded blockbuster films that have taken over the ‘Con. At one minute and forty seconds long, it can be considered a fabulous micro-movie celebration of a Comic-Con icon.
