New Hobbit 2 featurette gets us inside shape-shifter Beorn's amazing house

Wanna meet The Hobbit’s awesome shape-shifter (ok, he's actually called a "skin-changer," but potatoes, potatoes, etc.) character Beorn?  And what about having a nice sneek peak at the dude's lovely home?

Warner Bros. has released a brand-new behind-the-scenes featurette that focuses of Beorn (played by Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt) whom we—as well as the Company of Dwarves—are set to meet during their continuing quest to reach and reclaim the Kingdom of Erebor under the Lonely Mountain in this year’s upcoming The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug flick.

Peppered with interesting interviews with Hobbit actors, producers and director Peter Jackson himself, this behind-the-scenes video focuses at the tremendous work it took to make the massive set—along with the massive set pieces that go with them.

(This set DOES indeed look terrific, don't you  think? And we can’t wait to see it in all its Middle-earth glory in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.)

Besides the featurette, we also get some more amazing footage of a fully motioned-captured Benedict Cumberbatch sneering and slithering his way as the—let’s face it awesome—Dragon Smaug; more Legolas (the ever youthful Orlando Bloom) and Tauriel (a graceful and regal Evangeline Lilly); and more of that escape in the barrels scene as well as those scary, big-A spiders.

Did you enjoy your behind-the-scenes look to Beorn’s house? Are you looking forward to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on Dec. 13?

Watch this guy dressed like Gandalf try to stop people from passing him

Remember that time Gandalf stood bravely against the Balrog at the Bridge of Khazad-dûm? This is DEFIANTLY nothing like that.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if anyone other than Sir Ian McKellen played the part of Gandalf? Well, wonder not, because we've discovered the answer in an unexpected place --

New York's Central Park.Well the movie is continuing its Movies in Real Life series by having an actor stand on Bow Bridge in a robe and beard and declare to anyone walking on it, "You shall not pass!"

I have seen Gandalf the Grey, sir, and you are no Gandalf the Grey.

Now if Sir Ian were there, I'm pretty confident some people would definitely not have passed.

Tell us what you thought of this hilarious video in the comments?

Weta Workshop Announces First Statue in The Lord of the Rings 1:6th Line

During Comic-Con this year you heard me mention a couple of times that Weta Workshop would be coming back to do 1:6th statues for The Lord of the Rings. Tim Launder General Manager of Weta Limited last night via The Shadow and Flame Forum announced who had been selected as the first character in the line. This character was one of the characters not done in statue form during original The Lord of the Rings statue line so fans are going to be pleased with this announcement. After years of waiting fans are finally going to be able to add a Faramir statue to their collections.

Now, the question becomes will we see the Ranger Faramir or Faramir in his Gondorian Armor? As details come along from Weta we will let you know and maybe before the end of the year we might even get a good look at what is sure to be an awesome statue.
